Clinical Training of Trainers - Oncology

The Training of Trainers courses are open to doctors in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MSChB) 
  • Masters in Medicine (MMed), or
  • Currently studying on a Masters in Medicine (MMed) programme 

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate the capacity and commitment to become trainers and to deliver training to other trainees within the cascaded clinical courses in their home countries.

With facilitators drawn from both the RCP and regional medical institutions, this 6 day training course will develop skills for effective training and supervision of trainees, in addition to clinical skills. By the end of this training, participants should;

  • Have acquired knowledge of cancer epidemiology in East Africa
  • Know the common cancers in East Africa, how they present , how they are diagnosed and managed
  • Be able to perform acute triage of cancer patients, manage urgent symptoms of cancer within district /regional hospital and refer without delay
  • Be able with confidence to teach or share experience acquired through this course with other health workers at lower health facilities.

A certificate of training endorsed by the RCP and the respective national accrediting body will be given to qualified participants.
